Fireman Association Fire Mark
Cast iron Fire Insurance protection building marker. The “F” and “A” are on either side of a water box with a hose attached. Marks were placed on insured buildings as a guide to the insurance company’s brigade to fight the fire. Marks were discontinued when brigades were directed to respond to all fires. This one measures 10 3/4″ X 7 1/2″ c. 1869. More photos on our RiverWind Antiques catalog on Trocadero.com listing. We take charge cards here at our shop in Connecticut.
